One more for the one-liner-collection #OLC:

  • Software is not naturally connected to the real world; this is why the real world must make sure to connect to software

By implication you can only trust complete and working software – which is why we have ‘DONE’.

To manage software, you must ensure the explicit synchronizations and connections to reality. Moments and places in time where you assure yourself that your software is ‘DONE’.

Another #OLC candidate is ‘the software doesn’t not care who writes it’ … it’s exactly that. The one writing the software must make sure to hook it up with the real world.
