Several years ago I worked in an organization, where we had a value: “Only do what you understand; ask if you don’t“. It meant to serve the same purpose – to encourage asking for as well as giving help. Our aim back then was to play on competence – anchored in integrity and accountability. The IDEO case – interestingly – emphasizes building trust and enabling accessibility as more important than competence.
